Setting Up and Branding Your Facebook Page
Building a following on facebook provides a place for your fans and followers to immediately connect with you. The downside is that you can’t take it with you. Keep in mind, you’re building a following on their platform, not yours. This is why we always focus on building the email list. In fact, at the time of this writing, we’re seeing facebook’s organic reach decline as facebook encourages its users to buy ads and boost reach to compensate for it. I would suggest using facebook as a place to interact with your fans and followers, but focus on growing your following with the newsletter.
When you’re preparing an email newsletter, post on facebook with a link to the newsletter sign-up and announce the upcoming newsletter. Don’t let the facebook page be the only place people interact with you. Some people will assume facebook is the best place to do that, so your job is to communicate the value of the site and what you’re doing there.
